It’s It Ice Cream Reveals Summer Pumpkin Flavor

San Francisco’s own, It’s It, will be releasing a pumpkin flavored ice cream sandwich along with the return of a strawberry flavored version. I figured pumpkin was more of a Halloween or Thanksgiving thing but ok. I still eat these things every once in a while.

Foodies…and Other Stuff

Vice: There is a New Wave of Foodies That is Dumber Than Ever
Just my thoughts to this article…Food trends have become one where it’s now a chef or at home cook who tries to mash anything together in hopes of getting some press out there even if the end product really doesn’t taste good. Once this trends, everyone has to go and try it which in of itself isn’t so bad. It’s when people, almost like sheep, just praise it because their favorite blogger or friend said so. There’s a difference between something that is good and something that just isn’t.

I didn’t mind the bacon trend a few years ago. It made sense as many people ate pancakes with syrup and a side of bacon. The sweet and salty worked, and so then did some versions of some type of sweet candied bacon. The Cronut was another trend that was huge last year. I tried a local version of it that was ok though likely not as good as the original. A co-worker graciously gave me a bagel that was also like a croissant which was terrible and made me question why this was even being sold. Some of these food outlets and chefs have no shame when it comes to trying to hitch onto a bandwagon to make a buck, and “foodies” out there embrace it even if it doesn’t work.

Now we’re seeing Pizza Hut try chicken finger crusts, Taco Bell with a breakfast waffle taco, and truffle oil (wait, is this made from truffles? Hmm.) on everything. Disgusting. This is just as bad as those places who charge $1000 for a martini, but I’ll save that rant for another time.

Vice: My Secret Meeting With One of Silk Road’s Biggest Drug Lords
This is a fantastic article, in a while from Vice, that gives some insight to a dealer on the site.

Yesterday I ate 3 pieces of fried chicken, a biscuit, and mash potatoes with gravy. The biscuit and mash potatoes were redundant, so I’ll skip 1 or the other next time. For dinner I had a couple corn dogs from Hot Dog on a Stick. No snacks today.

What Did I Eat Today….

I was busy for most of the day, so I didn’t get to eat as much as I want to. By 5:30, I just ran into a liquor store and bought a small bag of Butterfinger bites. For dinner, I had a couple slices of garlic cheese pizza and snacked on several crackers. Nothing special. I hope to feast this weekend!

What Did I Eat Today….

I skipped breakfast yet again. Breakfast just doesn’t agree with me because it makes me feel slow and sleepy in the mornings. I want to try and have a steamed egg in the morning, but I usually just end up eating a banana at work.

HauteDog

For lunch, I had the Haute Dog from Craftsman & Wolves. I’m noticing I’m sounding picky when I eat things though generally I can be like that. I actually love the croissant bun because it has a nice crunch on it that you’d expect from a toasted croissant and its flaky texture. The salt & vinegar beet chips were ok since they added more crunch, but I didn’t notice the vinegar all that much. The sausage was tasty too, and the whole thing had a nice mustard taste. So what’s to not like? The sausage was barely warm otherwise I’d get it more often since $6.50 isn’t all that bad!

For dinner, I just went to the Korean market in Daly City and picked up a spicy mushroom soft tofu stew from the restaurant there. Familiar flavor and comforting. For in between snacks, I popped a bag of kettle corn that I bought today. I was laughing in the store by myself when I remembered “might as well just pop 2 bags.” That just summed up everything. A waiter suggesting a medium is enough but ordering a large pizza anyways (deep dish btw), getting something from every food truck in the lot, 2 orders of dry fried chicken wings, basketful of junk food. Glorious. Like being a couple stoners but not.

For crappy news of the day, I might have to go to San Diego for a week that falls just after EDC or really the Monday following. Fuck that. I’d rather go home than hear a bunch of people speak since I won’t be in a frame of mind for any of that.

Tablehopper: Tartine Bakery Team Opening a Dream Project in the Heath Ceramics Building in the Mission
Tartine Bakery will open a 2nd location at Heath Ceramics (18th and Alabama) roughly 5 to 10 blocks away from its current location. They’ll sell pastries and also be a casual lunch spot. Hopefully this eases the long ass lines!

This is just what I had to eat yesterday. I skipped breakfast…oops! For lunch, I had pho over at Ben Tre.

CheesePlusWillieBrownBird

For dinner, I had the Willie Brown Bird from Cheese Plus. It’s a smoked duck sandwich on toasted dutch crunch with provalone, what looks like an arugula salad, and provolone cheese which is roughly $13 after tax/tip. Excellent sandwich as it tastes really fresh! Would I go back? Maybe if it weren’t so out of the way.

My current sandwich spot is still Ike’s which I have once a week. lol!

JambaJuiceMegaMango

OrvilleRedenbachersGarlicButterSeaSalt

In between meals, I drank a Mega Mango from Jamba Juice. I’ve having a bit of deja vu with this since I think I’ve had it before and remember the same bland taste. There’s nothing mega about this! The popcorn was pretty good too, but I think it smelled better than it tasted. I’ll just stick to kettle corn.

I saw this posted on SFist this afternoon. They are doing some serious work tearing this building down so quickly. Kinda sad.
